Workshop on Experiential Learning in Manufacturing Systems Design

June 19-20, 1997

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation Realization Consortium
and the Cornell Center for Manufacturing Enterprise
Hosted by the School of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering
Cornell University
Ithaca NY 14853

Please join us for our seventh workshop focused on the use of experiential learning techniques in the area of manufacturing and distribution system design. This is an opportunity for us to support and expand the community of faculty who are engaged in experiential learning. We get to share with you the unique materials that we are developing and to learn what you are doing in this area. Over the years, faculty from dozens of universities have attended, representing both industrial engineering and operations management disciplines. We always have a good time and it is exciting to see how the curricula at these schools are changing.

The workshop announcement is below. Please share it with your colleagues. As indicated, we will cover three major course components: The Manufacturing Operations Game for Windows (now enhanced with graphics), Llenroc Plastics, and Velocity Manufacturing. In all of these exercises, you will be expected to play the role of the student, so bring your calculator! We will finish with a roundtable discussion to learn of activities at your schools.
