CGANTT is generic software created for the design and analysis of cyclic production schedules. An exercise is provided that relates it it to the Llenroc Plastics series of cases.
Production scheduling
Production sequencing
Introductory course on production planning and scheduling.
The exercise is designed to be run in a 2 hour microcomputer laboratory period.
The concepts of cycle length and job flow time must be explained and the software must be demonstrated.
Microsoft Windows 3.1
Public domain. Modify exercise as you wish. Source code is proprietary.
Student reviews have been mixed. The cyclic schedules can get complicated and the schedules can get tangled up. The file readme.txt suggests a procedure to avoid tangled schedules. A two hour lab is probably too short to fully explore this tool.
On the other hand, students are impressed with the power of the CGANTT software and wished they had a greater opportunity to use it: the lab exercise was too short and the software was not an integral part of the Llenroc Plastics design exercise.
CGANTT has been used successfully as an integrated part of a major design exercise: The Manufacturing System Development Game.
