UPDATE

I am now an Assistant Professor of Operations Management in the Stephen J.R. Smith School of Business at Queen's University, where I belong to the Management Analytics area group. Please visit me there.

About Me

I am a postdoctoral associate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and also jointly in the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE) at Cornell University, where I am co-supervised by Samitha Samaranayake and Siddhartha Banerjee.

My research concerns the design of service systems with strategic entities, especially the interplay between operational policies (e.g., routing, matching, staffing) and economic mechanisms (e.g., pricing, cost/revenue sharing, incentives), with a growing focus on applications to urban transportation. This focus is motivated by the global transformation of urban mobility into a user-centric, service-oriented playing field, from a traditionally vehicle-centric framework. My interdisciplinary work combines tools from multiple subjects such as optimization, probability, queueing theory, decision theory, game theory and mechanism design, and has been published in diverse conference proceedings and journals such as EC, AAMAS, IJCAI, CDC, Operations Research, and Mathematics of Operations Research.

I obtained my Ph.D. in 2013 from the Department of Computing + Mathematical Sciences at California Institute of Technology, where I was advised by Adam Wierman, and affiliated with the Rigorous Systems Research Group (RSRG) and Social and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL).

Between 2013 and 2015, I was a postdoc in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering (ECEE) at University of Colorado Boulder, where I was supervised by Jason Marden. From 2015 to 2017, I was a research scientist at Conduent Labs India (previously Xerox Research Centre India), where I belonged to the Algorithms and Optimization group, which I went on to lead as a research manager during January-September 2017. Through my industrial experience, I gained a hands-on perspective on leveraging theoretical foundations learned in academia to design effective real-world solutions, leading to an evolving emphasis on a practice-aware approach to operations research.
