Research
My research focuses on developing statistical designs for clinical trials in medicine. Currently I am working on
adaptive sequential procedures for subgroup selection or targeted therapies. My thesis adviser is Professor Bruce Turnbull.
In addition,
I am very interested in topics such as finance, data mining and simulation.
As an undergraduate, I did a senior research project advised by Professors Daniel Plante and Denise Szecsei. The project was also sponsored by Applicon in Iceland.

About Me
I started my undergraduate work at the University of Iceland in 2002, studying mathematics. A year later, I transferred to Stetson University in hot-and-humid Florida on a music scholarship. After completing my degree at Stetson, I worked at Applicon in Iceland for eight months as an SAP consultant, before coming to Cornell to commence Ph.D. studies.
Some random facts:
- Before jumping into the world of mathematics, I used to fly small planes for fun.
- I play ice hockey with a nice group of CS graduate students at Cornell (They welcome beginners; I had no clue how to skate when I first arrived at Cornell!)
- I enjoy playing many other sports, such as soccer, football, badminton, golf, swimming and table tennis.
- I have played the violin since I was 10 years old. I also play the viola, though this sort of mixing is frowned upon by violinists and violists alike.
